
Arise Consultation and Training Services, LLC offers diversity, equity, and inclusion consultation and trainings to mental health professionals, educators, and corporations. Dr. Burrell offers unique and challenging ideas to promote change and growth as we work together towards anti-racism. She has offered thought provoking trainings all over the nation. She works to bring education to the communities she serves and holds free community events, offering psychoeducation and mental health resources. Dr. Burrell works to bridge the gap between mental health and diversity.

The Arising Scholar Graduate Student Award is a $2000 scholarship award that honors Black/African American students who are on their journey to earn a doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD) in psychology (clinical, counseling, educational). It recognizes Black/African American students who have demonstrated a desire to work within the Black/African American communities (i.e., research, education, clinical, advocacy) upon degree completion.

Alexis aspires to have a career as a "Black psychologist serving the community and teaching the next generation of counselors and psychologists."

2024 award recipient
"My future work is rooted in the belief that the well-being of Black men is intrinsically tied to the broader health of the Black community. I aim to develop programs that facilitate the reintegration of ostracized Black men, be it actual or imagined, promoting a greater sense of belonging and connection."

2025 Award recipient
"I aim to provide culturally responsive psychological services, expand community-based research, and establish training programs centering our experiences, while leveraging psychology for policy advocacy to reduce barriers, promote equity, and strengthen community wellness through preventative, interdisciplinary approaches."
